Saadiyat Island GSM Towers

The Saadiyat project was undertaken for TFP Farrells. The project consisted of setting an overall strategy for the numerous buildings, then designing concepts to fit that strategy. Dealing with mainly infustructural buildings of varying scale, the brief was to generate an Architectural language fitting with the positioning of the Island as a showcase for innovative international Architecture
The communications structures form the islands telephone network. The Central Exchange tower being the hub and the GSM towers placed around the development. The concept for the GSM masts is based on a date palm. The central exchange is inspired by sails and the notion of capturing the wind, just as information is caught and relayed.
